Elscint recently manufactured a vibratory bowl feeder for feeding of three types of rubber parts having flange on one side. The requirement was that the flange should be up while the parts are moving in flat orientation. However, though the flange was stiff, the bottom part, being of rubber, could be compressed on getting pressed. This resulted in the parts overlapping in case of backpressure and if the outlet track was full. The requirement was for two outlets and hence overflow was required in at least one track. Further, there being three parts having diameters from dia 50 mm to dia 25 mm, changeover was required in the bowl. However, the ht of all the three parts was the same, resulting in the top cover not having to be changed for either of the parts. In the bowl, most of the parts came in reverse direction and hence, it was required to twist all the parts in 180 degrees to ensure that the required speed is maintained. Along with the bowl feeder, a linear vibrator with two tracks was provided with a common base plate for mounting both of these. A sensor on one of the linear tracks ensured that the bowl feeder would be switched off in case the slowest of the two tracks got full. Being a rubber component, a stainless steel step design bowl was used for this purpose.
