Elscint recently manufactured a vibratory counting system for various aluminum parts like billets and forgings for a customer in Western Maharashtra. Various parts were to be accommodated in the same equipment, right from diameter 20 mm to diameter 60 mm and length varying from 30 mm to 70 mm. Some parts were billets while others were forgings. Additionally, some parts were having diameter more than the length while others were having diameter and length equal. There were also some parts were the length was more than the diameter.
Presently, the customer was counting by weight and faced a lot of issues with the inaccuracies as the weights of individual parts would differ due to variation in the forging process. Hence, Elscint offered a solution to ensure that the parts were counted by numbers and not by weight. This ensured 100% accurate counting and no discrepancies. Elscint provided a large vibratory bowl feeder having diameter of around 800 mm to accommodate all the sizes, especially the big ones. After the bowl feeder a gravity chute was provided with Elscint’s patented pneumatic escapement which ensured highly accurate counting accuracy. The counted parts were dropped in a bin. The customer wanted to count the parts in lots of 500 each. Hence, once the counted parts reached 490, a buzzer would start to intimate the operator that the counting process was nearing its end. On counting 500, the counting would stop and once the operator reset the counter, it would restart again. In order to accommodate loading of more parts, a 75 ltr. Hopper Elevator was provided along with a level controller. This also ensured the loading height was manageable for the operator. A counting speed of between 70 to 120 parts per minute was achieved based on the size of the parts. You can watch the video of the counting equipment here.
