Elscint recently completed a project where in the requirement was for feeding of small brass washers having size dia 3.5 x 1.5 mm thickness having burr on one side. The orientation required was the burr was to be always on the top side. The extent of the burr was different in most cases, making the bowl feeder quite challenging. However, the orientation of the same was achieved with a speed of more than 80 parts per minute. The component being very small, Elscint used vibratory bowl feeder Model 100 with a fabricated stainless steel bowl having diameter 120 mm. The orientation was done on the outer track of the bowl just before the components came out of the bowl. After the bowl, a linear track of 200 mm with Model Elscint VI was used. A stand too was provided for mounting these with an height adjustment of (+/-) 50 mm for ease of integration at the customer’s end. You can watch the video of this miniature vibratory bowl feeder.
