Elscint recently completed a set of 2 bowl feeders for feeding of plastic clips. The clips were to be fed in four outlets at a centre distance of 50 mm from each other. Elscint recommended Model 250 EV bowl for feeding of the clips with two outlets each, thus using two bowl feeders. The speed required was 80 rivets per minute per outlet. Thereafter the clips were to be carried forward on a single linear vibrator with 4 tracks. As there were 2 tracks per bowl, proper overflow arrangement was required, which was provided with airjets. Sensors were placed on all the 4 tracks to ensure that once both the tracks are full, the respective bowl feeders were stopped. However, one major requirement in case of plastic clips was that orientation was to be made with respect to the slot on the top of the clip. This was made possible by providing a top cover with a provision to align the slot. Speed for these bowl feeders too was 80 parts per minute per outlet (4 outlets from 2 bowl feeders, one clockwise and another anti-clockwise). The complete project was completed with 6 weeks and installation and commissioning was provided at the customer site.
