Elscint recently manufactured a high speed cap feeder for feeding of two sizes of caps, one having diameter 22 mm and one diameter 25 mm. The heights of both the caps were the same, 20 mm. The requirement was to feed them in “open side facing ground” orientation at a very high speed of 320 caps per minute. Elscint used its Model 400 with a stainless steel bowl as it was a pharmaceutical application. The bowl had a diameter of 800 mm. The caps would come in any random manner and had to be changed to the required orientation in the bowl. As most came with open side facing sky, all had to be twisted to make them open side facing ground. Additionally the customer required a 3 mtr long gravity chute with spring release mechanism for both these caps. Easy changeover inside the bowl as well as in the chute was provided. The customer’s present bowl was only suitable for diameter 22 mm caps and hence he required a new one for dia 25 mm caps. Elscint provided a single bowl feeder for both these caps with easy changeover.
