Elscint recently manufactured a bowl feeder for feeding of thin caps having diameter of 40 mm x 3 mm thk. The requirement was to feed these caps flat, diameter to diameter with the open side down. Two outlets were required with a centre distance of 100 mm at the end of the linear vibrator. There was a small opening on the cap at one end and in most cases this was not properly fixed and would come out. The total thickness with the opening up would be around 5.5 mm and this created a problem as any increase in the gap between the cap and the top cover would result in overlapping of the caps and if the gap was reduced, the caps would get jammed. Proper design of the linear track and top guide ensured that this problem would not be there. Speed or feed rate required was 40 parts per minute per outlet. A total of 42 to 43 parts per minute per outlet was achieved. In addition to be bowl feeder, which was completely fabricated in stainless steel, a 800 mm long linear vibrating track was also supplied, with the required 100 mm centre distance at the end. The equipment was tested and FAT conducted online before dispatch of the equipment.
