Elscint recently manufactured a vibratory bowl feeder for feeding of large plastic caps. The cap was of the size 63 x 8 mm thk with a flange on one side. The closed side was to be inserted into a tube to close the same. The customer required a complete solution along with pneumatic pusher for insertion. The speed required was only 10 parts per minute. Hence, Elscint suggested odel 400 with a bowl having diameter 800 mm. The orientation was “rolling with the closed side away from bowl centre”. After the bowl, a vertical track was provided to get the caps straight down. A pneumatic escapement ensured that only one cap was released while the rest were held up. After releasing the single cap, the same was pushed into the tube with another pneumatic cylinder. Elscint provided the complete mechanism for this arrangement. The customer purchased two systems, one for closing each of the ends of the tube. Hence, one clockwise and one anti-clockwise bowl feeder was provided. The singulation and pushing mechanism was similar for both of these.
