Elscint recently manufactured a vibratory bowl feeder for feeding of aluminum caps of two sizes. The dimensions of the caps were dia 19 x 16 mm ht. and dia 15 x 12 mm ht. respectively. Elscint recommended its Model 250 EV with cast aluminium bowl with Elscinthane PU coating. Changeover tooling was provided to ensure that each of these caps were fed in the correct orientation without any problem. The required speed was 60 parts per minute. However Elscint achieved a speed of more than 200 caps per minute in the correct orientation. Model 250 EV is a “deep” bowl with more than thee spirals and hence more number of components could be accommodated in the same. The loading capacity of the bowl was a total of 1200 parts of the bigger size and 2600 caps of the smaller size. Further proper overflow arrangement was provided so that even if the customer did not provide a sensor in his chute, the caps would keep falling back into the bowl, once the outlet track was full.
