Feeding of large sized Elements in a Vibratory Bowl Feeder

Elscint has been manufacturing bowl feeders for feeding elements having size from dia 15 mm to 80 mm and length from 20 mm to 100 mm regularly for many years. As Model 400 was being used, whose track is only 50 mm and hence the maximum size was restricted within this range as given above. In this a Cast Aluminium bowl was used coated with Elscinthane PU coating and has a V channel at the end for easy moment of the elements onto the track of the machine. For ensuring that this wide variety of parts were accommodated in the same bowl, the tooling system designed is mounted on the base plate and not on the bowl (ensuring that the weight of the tooling does not disturb the working of the bowl by making it unwieldy. The tooling provided with easy X and Z moment with a screw with locking facility. This is provided towards the outlet area so that a single lengthwise component only comes out. The wipers provided for single line flow and ensuring that standing elements fall down too are provided with slots ensuring easy adjustment.

            Against this backdrop, recently, one customer approached Elscint for accommodating elements upto dia 100 mm and length 120 mm. For this purpose, Elscint used Model 400 HD with a 70 mm track length. The tooling too was changed to make it more easy for changeover of this wide variety of range by attaching it to the bowl itself. As usual, a V channel was provided at the outlet for the customer. Model 400 HD being a three and a half spiral bowl, is very “deep” and hence can accommodate more quantities of parts, providing about 12 litres capacity as against 9 litres of Model 400.
