Innovative Usage of Vibratory Bowl Feeders – Vibratory Drive for Bausch + Stroebel bowl

Elscint recently supplied a vibratory drive for an old bowl made by a German machine manufacturer named Bausch + Stroebel. The requirement was for feeding of rubber bungs having dia 30 mm. The customer was a leading biotech company in India. They had purchased a complete filling line from Bausch + Stroebel, Germany three years back. However, the vibrator supplied by the German manufacturer never really worked well. The first problem was the speed / feed rate. Against the requirement of 25 parts per minute per row (2 rows), the vibrator would deliver less than 10 parts per minute per row, especially after one hour of continous running. The coil used to get heated, resulting in drop in the feed rate. Another problem was that the bowl was having a very high pitch (distance between two tracks) of 105 mm. This resulted in a lot of pressure being generated on the coil which was not capable of the same.  Elscint provided its own vibratory drive in place of the Bausch + Stroebel drive, using the same bowl. The mounting arrangement of the present bowl too was used by providing an adaptor plate, resulting in no change in the present bowl. Elscint Model 250 D was used. With the powerful and efficient Elscint drive, even on the high pitch bowl, a speed of 80 rubber bungs per minute per row was observed. Additionally, Elscint provided a stainless steel adaptor plate with mounting holes to suit the present mounting arrangement. Elscint even provided support for fixing of the vibrator on the customer’s machine. The equipment functions in a Class 6 facility, which means access to the same is heavily restricted and one needs proper certification for the same. All this was completed in a single day so that the customer’s filling line was not kept idle.
