Elscint recently supplied a vibratory bowl feeder for feeding of small plastic tubes having size diameter 20.5 mm x 21 mm length in “rolling” orientation to a customer in Russia. Elscint vibratory bowl feeder Model 400 with a cast aluminium bowl, duly coated with Elscinthane PU coating was used for this application. As the difference between the diameter and the length was marginal, extra care had to be taken to ensure proper orientation. This was especially necessary as the tubes had a lot of “flash” present. However, the robustness of the tooling ensured that the orientation was correct with not a single wrongly oriented plastic tube went forward. Further, a total of two outlets were provided with two gravity track, machined out of stainless steel. Two escapements were mounted at the end of these tracks which could be operated independently. Standard Elscint pneumatic escapements (which are patented) were used. The robust design and excellent build quality of the Elscint escapement assembly coupled with Festo make cylinder ensured that the escapement operates without any stoppage and jamming.
