Elscint recently supplied a special vibratory bowl feeder for stacking of metal parts having dimensions 25 mm x 27 mm x 4 mm thickness. There was a chamfer on one side which needed to be always on one side, making the orientation complicated. Elscint used a Model 400 double start conical bowl for this purpose. The parts were oriented and fed into a gravity chute and thereafter, they were stacked by pushing them onto a 500 mm long track with a pneumatic cylinder. Elscint provided sensors at various positions to ensure proper synchronization. The equipment was meant to work on 110 V/ 60 Hz input supply as it was exported to the USA. The speed required was high and hence Elscint fabricated a double start bowl and then converged both the tracks into a single one giving a single output with high speed. The position of the final stack was also different from the way the parts were oriented in the bowl and hence the part orientation was changed in the bowl before they moved onto the gravity track. The bowl was coated with Elscinthane PU coating for two reasons, firstly to reduce the noise level by eliminating the metal to metal contact between the bowl and the components and secondly, to ensure that the plating on the parts does not get damaged due to constant movement on the surface of the bowl. Elscint used Model 400 HD vibratory drive with a stainless steel conical design double start bowl for this application. Further a Frequency Controller was provided to ensure that any change in input frequency or voltage does not affect the output.
