This project, marking our 20th successful set of feeders for this customer, required a highly customized approach to handle a small <strong>plastic banana-peel-shaped parts measuring 9 mm in diameter and 6 mm in height<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Challenge<\/strong> The customer required a feed rate of 60 to 80 parts per minute (PPM) in a single row. The primary engineering challenge lay in the unique geometry of the components. Their shape caused them to naturally orient in the wrong direction during the feeding process, making consistent, high-speed delivery difficult.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Elscint Solution<\/strong> To ensure durability and smooth part flow, we utilized a cast aluminum bowl coated with our proprietary Elscinthane PU coating, paired with precision-machined stainless steel tooling. To resolve the specific orientation issue, our engineering team integrated a targeted air jet system. This pneumatic solution gently but effectively corrects the orientation of the parts mid-cycle, ensuring only correctly aligned components proceed down the line.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Seamless Integration and Results<\/strong> Following the bowl feeder, we designed a custom gravity track with a flattened end portion. This modification allows the parts to transition seamlessly into the customer&#8217;s existing indexing table.<\/p>\n<p>The final equipment not only met but significantly exceeded the customer&#8217;s expectations. Against the initial requirement of 60 to 80 PPM, the feeders consistently achieved speeds of 120+ PPM.
