The main requirement is for feeding of parts like the threaded stopper and hub cover, which go into the blood bag as well as saline bags. Orientation and feeding of the \u201cthreaded stopper\u201d is quite easy but the \u201chub cover\u201d is quite difficult to orient and secondly, getting the required speed \/ feed rate is a challenge. However, Elscint has developed a very modular design for its bowl which makes it easy to achieve various speeds. Speeds of upto 200 parts per minute are possible. Further, being medical parts, a medical grade bowl made of stainless steel with proper welding and polishing is required. In case of a recent order, the orientation required for both the parts was \u201crolling with pointed side towards bowl centre\u201d. Additionally, Elscint provided a gravity chute with a sensor to ensure that the bowl feeder got switched off once the chute got full.
