Elscint recently manufactured a high speed vibratory bowl feeder for feeding of rubber bungs having head diameter 17 mm x 15.50 mm thickness. As the bungs had diameter almost equal to the height, they used to come in any direction, i.e. head down or even axially. The speed required was more than 400 parts per minute. On the customers insistence, Elscint used a conical bowl but with three tracks, which were then converged into a single track at the end, giving a speed of 450 bungs a minute in head up direction. Air was used for ensuring that the wrongly oriented bungs were thrown back into the bowl. Overflow provision was provided in the bowl so that even if the outlet is closed, the bungs automatically fell back into the bowl. Ahead of the bowl feeder, a small 300 mm long linear track was provided. As the speed was very high, a 50 ltr. Hopper with level controller was provided. All the touching parts were fabricated in SS 316L grade. The stands were constructed in aluminium extrusion sections and the mounting base plates were mild steel with stainless steel cladding. The linear vibrator and the hopper mounting plates were in stainless steel itself. The complete set up had the hall mark Elscint sturdy build quality and glass bead blast finish.
