Feeding of heavy parts in a vibratory bowl feeder is always a challenge. First and foremost is to decide the heaviest component which can be fed in a vibratory feeder. Based on this, decide on the model and size of the vibratory drive unit. Then one has to decide the number of components which can be accommodated at one time in the vibratory feeder. This also is dependent upon the weight carrying capacity of the vibratory feeder (refer http://elscintautomation.com/wp/uncategorized/weight-carrying-capacity-of-a-vibratory-bowl-feeder/). In case of heavy parts, the speed or feed rate too is to some extent dependent on the number of parts which can be accommodated in the bowl. Elscint has fed parts having weight from 850 gms to upto 2 kgs successfully in different models. For the 850 gms component, vibratory feeder which was chosen had a weight carrying capacity of 40 kgs while that for the 2 kg component was 60 kgs. Hence, the number of parts which can be accommodated in the bowl at one time is limited. In case extra loading capacity is required, extra loading capacity hoppers or elevators can be used.
