Elscint, recently manufactured two vibratory bowl feeders for feeding of a very small rivet. The rivet had head diameter of just dia 3 mm and total length of 2 mm. The requirement was to feed the same in head down orientation. Elscint used its Model 100 which is a very small bowl having diameter of just 100 mm. The bowl was completely machined in stainless steel and final orientation was done to ensure only the head down oriented rivets come forward. Ahead of the bowl feeder, a 300 mm long linear track was provided. A single sensor with time delay was provided on the track so that once the track is full, the bowl feeder stop. Even with the small bowl, almost 5000 rivets could be accommodated in the same. The speed achieved was 200 rivets per minute as against the requirement of 60 parts per minute. Two bowl feeders were supplied, one clockwise and one anti-clockwise.
