Elscint recently manufactured and supplied a vibratory bowl feeder with a hopper elevator for feeding of hollow shafts having diameter 20 mm to dia 50 mm and length from 25 mm to 70 mm. The feeding was for a centerless grinding machine. The customer already had a conveyor and the parts had to be fed to this conveyor for further conveying to the centerless grinding machine of the customer. As the customer wanted extra loading capacity, Elscint provided a 75 ltr. Hopper elevator for bulk store of the parts. This along with a level controller in the bowl ensured that the parts in the bowl were always restricted to the bare minimum with continuous reloading of the same from the elevator. The components were to be used for the final pass in the grinding machine and hence, a revolving top dome was provided in the bowl to ensure that the components were not damaged while they fall from the elevator into the bowl. Some components were having diameter more than the length. For this, extra special tooling was provided so that they too were fed in axial direction on to the conveyor. A special adjustable tubular chute was provided to ensure that the parts move from the vibratory bowl feeder onto the conveyor without any hitch. In fact, the customer was having a similar set up supplied by Elscint 20 years back, which was still working very well without any problems and hence giving the repeat order to Elscint was a no brainer! Long life and negligible maintenance makes Elscint Vibratory bowl feeders the first choice for most customers.
