Elscint provides machining facility for Sinhagad College students

Recently, students of Sinhagad College Pune approached Elscint for sponsorship for participating in an international competition of Aerospace.

A team from the college will be participating at the Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC) conducted by the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association (ESRA), USA. The project, titled APJ, is an outcome of likeminded students coming together to achieve a unique feat. The team will be participating in the SA Cup 2018, held in USA, making the students the only participants from Maharashtra. The other team participating from India is from Manipal University. For the SA Cup Spaceport America Cup, the team aims to compete in the 10,000 feet category with a COTS propellant. Rocket APJ is apogee 10,000 feet with maximum velocity of 1120 Km/h, acceleration of 100 m/s^2. It’s time to apogee is 25 seconds, time of flight is three minutes, total weight is 27 kg and length eight feet. Rocket APJ is powered by Aerotech M2500 Blue Thunder Motor.

Elscint provided machining facilities to this team as part of its CSR activities and completed the Hub Cover for the wheels of the vehicle. You can see the photo of the machined components manufactured by Elscint.
