Elscint Linear Vibrator for pushing Uranium Pellets into tubes

Elscint recently manufactured a vibrating tray mounted on its Linear Vibrator Model Elscint IV for pushing of uranium pellets into zirconium tubes. The tolerance between the tube inner diameter and the pellets was only 50 microns, making the entry into the tube difficult.

Elscint constructed a stainless steel tray with V slots for the pellets to move forward. After the end of the V slots, the tubes were mounted with an easy removal attachment. From the V Slots, the pellets moved into the tubes, which, being mounted on the linear vibrator were also vibrating. This way the tubes got filled with pellets. The length of the V slot was same as the length of the tube and hence, if any pellet did not get pushed into the tube, could be easily observed. A total of 8 tubes were fixed on the linear vibrator at one time. The pellets came from another equipment, making this fully automatic except for fixing and removal of the tubes. The pellets being of uranium, it was important that human handling of the same was strictly avoided. This innovative equipment designed and manufactured by Elscint ensured that human safety was not compromised. For such innovative ideas and concepts, do contact Elscint by sending a mail to –
